Fishing for spring salmon in river Varde has become an exciting endavour

during the last few years. The salmon is now protected by a EU directive

which means that large numbers of salmon enters the river each year.

The river banks are a mixture of meadows, forestland, grasslands but in

general it is easily fished with a fly most places. Wading is also possible.

In spring the waterlevel is above average and the fly must be fished with

a sink-tip or better with a sinking line to reach the salmon. Wet flies, tube

flies and hair wings are all used alike by the river and the magic of seeing

a fish rise to your own homemade creations is a thrill... This course offers

you the opportunity for that experience...

This course is aimed at giving the beginning flyfisher an introduction

to fly fishing - its methods, tactics, choice of flies etc. and to introduce

participants to a classic Danish salmon river and its beats. Generally 

the lessons lasts 5 hours each with individual guiding for participants.

w learning to make your own "gravad" fish w

 [ Day 3:  09.30 am - Third lesson by the river ]

The Motel is situated in Varde and transportation to the beats is to be 

provided for by participants. We try to find facilities certified according to

environmental standards (Green Key) and though not easy it is our aim

that in due time all of our suppliers of services will be certfied according

to either such standards or our own environmental standards. This

motel, however, is not certified according to a standard.

You stay in single rooms with all modern facilities at your hand including

bath, TV, Internet access etc. We have also arranged with freezing capacity

available as well as picnics to take with you to the river.

To protect the river Varde salmon it is currently allowed to kill only 1

salmon a year per Angler. This applies to locals as well as visiting

fishermen.  So if you are planning to fill the freezer river Varde å is not

the place. If, however, you want to experience some serious salmon

fishing river Varde IS the place for you...There are no limitations as to

the seatrout (minimum size for seatrouts is 40 cm and 60 cm for the
