è Saltwater fishing for seatrout in the Limfjord

 è The Limfjord...

The Limfjord is more than just

    fishing. Surrounding it you find

    forests to the waterline, steep

slopes and flat sandy areas - a

    varied piece of Danish fjordland

Birdlife is rich at times and

    seals and other mammels are

    natural inhabitants here..

The rich fauna and flora is also a

benefit to the seatrout and you will

have a good chance of getting in

touch with it at many places....

     è All year long..

è The habits of the seatrout

Coastal fishing for seatrout in the Limfjord is

The seatrout is not a stationary

based on the stocks found in rivers such as

fish. It roams around the coasts

Simested, Karup, Lindenborg and Skals. The

and between the low water found

seatrouts partly head for Kattegat, partly stays

here and deeper water at sea.

along the coasts of the Limfjord in their search

This fact seems to be closely

for pray. This means that constantly there will

 connected with its temperature

be a part of the stocks being based in the fjord

controls. Icy, low water can be

and here they can be caught througout the year

 lethal to the seatrout. Optimal

with a peak in april/may. Here the seatrout can

 temperature is around 14 C

be found near the coastline 24 hours a day....

where its at its fullest potential..

 è Oysters

   Date

   This course takes place on
   April 16th -18th 2010
The Limfjord is also well known
for its oysters and if you happend to
go to the island Venø don't cheat
yourself for trying a traditional dish
      of the genuine Limfjord oyster...
      Mussles are also traditionally a
      product associated with the fjord,
      fishing for these, however, poses
a huge strain on the eco-system..

è Places to fish

One can fish seatrouts everewhere in  the Limfjord, but some places are

of course more attractive than others where pray is more readily available

like i.e.  Ærtebølle strand, Lundø,  Næsbydale, Dragstrup Vig, Rønbjerg

and Harrevig, but the small islands  in the Limfjord are also worth a try

with good fishing (i.e. Mors og Livø).The seabed changes between

big rocks, musslebanks, deep and shallow water and places with

plenty of eelgrass. The seatrout can be found in all of these biosystems

When the seatrouts hook it do so in several ways. Sometimes it will

take without hesitation in a rush and at other times it will follow the bait

closely and either do just that or try to hook it in a series of fake attacs.

You feel these through the top of the rod - try to vary spinning and wait...

 è Seatrouts

    The majority of seatrouts are
below 3 kg but still, they are really
    good fighters. Sometimes you will
get in touch with some of the big
ones but prepare yourself for a
tough game - they are not easy to
    control and a minimum of +100 m
on the reel is a necessity should
this occur. Both spoons and a fly
will work for the seatrout in the
    Limfjord
